As your 5th grade student gets ready to make the big leap to middle school, tougher academic requirements will have to compete with increasing distractions such as socializing with friends and surging hormones. Since students today are more tech-savvy than ever, our 5th graders will learn how to communicate effectively and appropriately in an online setting.

5th graders should be able to follow all capitalization rules and use punctuation correctly in their written work. They will be using rich academic and domain specific vocabulary both in the oral and written work. Students will explore a variety of genres of literature. The 5th grade math curriculum focuses on mastery of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals. They will also recognize and understand the relationships between fractions, decimals, and percents.
